Carolina Catholic learns about the contemplative life with Sister Gabriela of the Carmel of Mary Immaculate and St. Mary Magdalen in Flemington, NJ
For our second show in May, I chat with Sister Gabriela of the Incarnation whom I met in April at the Carmelite Monastery in Flemington, NJ. These Discalced Carmelite Nuns are a community of cloistered, contemplative religious under solemn vows. They express their call to follow Our Lord ever more closely in silence and solitude. Prayer is the center of this life. Her order wears the full habit as a sign of poverty and consecration to God. The lifestyle is simple and austere, but not excessively so, as the sisters enjoy two daily hours of recreation. The sisters have a pro-life ministry, Contemplatives for Life, and they operate an online gift shop.
This show will air on Wilmington Catholic Radio's three stations, 91.7 FM, 93.1 FM, and 103.1 FM on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 6 pm on the third and fourth weekends of May. You can listen on-line live by clicking on the Listen Now tab. Or, listen 24/7 by going to the Carolina Catholic tab and clicking on the show page.
